Frequently Asked Questions

Will my cloth be cut in one length?

Yes, we sell our cloth by the half metre, so if you have added more than half a metre to your basket, we will cut it in one length.

Should I pre-wash my fabric?

Whilst you don’t have to, as most of our cloth has been pre-washed, and therefore pre-shrunk; we do recommend a pre-wash as it freshens the cloth. Do be aware that our natural brown cotton will be subject to some shrinkage, and we therefore cut extra to allow for this. Is your cloth colourfast?

Yes, all of our cloth has been pre-washed, so the colour will be fixed. Do be aware that Indigo cloth will have some indigo rub-off and colour transfer, though this is only temporary, and will stop with a few washes. You can find more information about our Indigo cloth here.

Can I order swatches?

Yes, we offer swatches for all our full priced cloth, but not on sale or reduced cloth. Simply select the 'Swatch' option from the drop down menu.

Our swatches are 50p for block prints, and £1.50 for our wovens. Our swatches are approximately 12 x 5cms, though they vary slightly to best capture the design.

What is the width of your cloth?

Usually, around 110cms wide, or 43 inches. There are variations, for example our pintuck cloth and denim are narrower, between 90 – 100cms. You will find the width of each cloth in the item description, but message us if you are not sure.

My block print has colour or pattern variations?

Our block printed cloth is hand crafted, and printed by real people, by hand. As such, there may be colour and print variations, this is very much part of the process, and part of the charm of handcrafted cloth, and not to be considered a flaw. You may notice lines from the edges of the blocks, or screens, and there may be areas with colour overlay. This is what makes block print unique and gives the cloth its rustic charm. Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, you can purchase e-gift vouchers to be used for online orders, by clicking this here

Do you have a physical shop?

Yes, we do! We are based on a farm in Kenilworth and have a shipping container which we open to the public on Wednesdays. You can view our open days by clicking here. Please do let us know if you plan to visit, as we operate by appointment only. We only have a small space, and this helps keep us safe and tidy.

Do you offer click and collect?

Yes, you can collect your order from us if you prefer. Just send us a message before placing your order so that we can organise that for you.

How much is shipping?

Our standard shipping rate is £5.50, which covers 48 hour tracked postage with Royal Mail. We do offer a £2.00 shipping rate which covers the postage for 4 x block print swatches.

For orders within the EU, this is £15.00, and for international (New Zealand, Australia and USA) this is £26.00.

What is your dispatch time?

We aim to dispatch our parcels within 2 -3 working days. Usually we achieve this next day, though they can occasionally take up to 7 days to process. We send out an automated shipping email with your tracking information to let you know once your order has been sent.

My order hasn’t arrived?

We send all of our orders with Royal Mail Tracked 48 hour postage for the UK, and tracked postage for international and EU, you will receive an automated email with your tracking information once it has been posted, so do keep an eye out for these emails as they can sometimes be filtered through into your junk/spam inbox.

We take every care to check the addresses that have been provided with your order but cannot be held liable for any incorrect or partial addresses provided by the customer. If you are notice that your address is incorrect, please contact us immediately to provide details.

I forgot to add something to my order, can I do this now?

We make every effort to pack and post your orders as quickly as possible, so please do let us know as soon as you can if you need to add extra items to your order. You can contact us with your order number and request, and we will endeavour to do our best to assist you.

An item is showing out of stock, or not letting me add the quantity I would like?

Our cloth is limited to shorter lengths, due to the handmade process, which can mean that we need to add meterage in batches. Please contact us if there is a product that you are interested in and we will check our stock levels for you.

We can occasionally have cloth re-printed or woven, so do contact us on the email above if something you are interested in is out of stock.

Do you offer discounts for large orders or wholesale?

Yes, we can offer discounts for order over 20 metres, and we can provide cloth for wholesale. Email us at contact@clothatelier.com for more information.

Where is your cloth sourced?

We source our cloth directly from India. Emma spends time with our suppliers, and artisans, travelling to India a few times a year, to work closely with the people who print, and weave by hand, the cloth in our collection. What is your returns policy?

We are unable to accept returns for cut cloth and recommend that you order a swatch to check the suitability for your project before ordering lengths by the metre.

We can accept returns for all other items, provided that you contact us within 7 days.
